What type of gate is suitable for my driveway?

At Abbeygates, we provide a free call out to evaluate what driveway gate is suitable for your home or business. We will take into considoration the style of your home, the type of driveway you have, how much privacy or security you want and make it as affordable as possible for you.

The answer to this depends on your driveways attributes. Factors to considor are;

Driveway size – The size of your driveway entrance determines wether your gate should slide or swing. Swinging gates are suitable for average sized driveways, but for larger entrances, sliding gates can be a better option as the swing radius is larger.

Sloped or inclined driveways – Sloped or slightly inclined driveways should be fitted with sliding or rolling gates, this is because when the gates are opening the incline will constrict the swing of the gate .

Style of your home or business – If you live in a modern or period home we can match your home’s style and colour to your brand new gate.

What happens to my automatic gate when there is a power cut?

Don’t panick! All our automatic/electric driveway gates are installed with a emergency manual override feature. We can also supply you with battery back up systems.

Can an automated system be installed into my existing gates?

If a visitor or delivery comes to my home, what happens?

We can install an intercom, this will allow people to press a button which will ring into your house, allowing you to confirm there entry by pushing the button on your intercom reciever inside the house. Issuing trusted people with your code can also be an option.

How long will it take to get my new system up and running?

How long does it take to get a system?

If all the required items are in stock and the gates are in situ then the system could be installed in a few days. However time should be allowed for items such as gates and their auxiliary items to be manufactured and installed and any ground work to be completed.
