Louix XVI’s grand palace of the past, The Palace of Versailles, has been gifted with a replica of the former entrance gate after it crumbled during the French Revolution

After two years work in 2008, the gate was finally completed. 80 metres of wrought iron was used for the base material, which was then sculpted into fleur de lys, crowns, masks of Apollo and many more ornate pieces. Donors provided a whopping £4 million to replicate the previous gate with the help of dedicated historians and some of the best craftsmen.
